Terms of Service

Terms of Service · Privacy Policy · Cookie Policy · Community Guidelines

These terms are the agreement between you and LLMpeeters about using buncol. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them, together with the Community Guidelines. How we handle your personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

1. Who runs buncol

buncol is a free worldbuilding and writing workspace. It is a personal hobby project run by LLMpeeters ("we", "us"). You can reach us at info@llmpeeters.com.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to terms like these or for consenting to the processing of your data, you must meet that age, or have a parent or guardian agree on your behalf. You may not use the site if we have banned you before, unless we have lifted the ban.

3. Your account and logging in

buncol has no passwords. To log in you enter your e-mail address and we send you a short one-time code. Whoever can read your mailbox can log into your account, so keep your e-mail account secure and log out on shared computers.

  • Use an e-mail address that is yours and that you can receive mail on.
  • One account per person. Do not share your account or use someone else's.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
  • Choose a username that follows the Community Guidelines; it is shown to other people.

4. Your content

Everything you create on buncol - writing, world objects, scenes, locations, images, uploaded models and forum posts - stays yours. We do not claim ownership of it.

To run the site we need your permission to handle it. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and display your content, only for the purpose of operating buncol: saving it, showing it to the people who are allowed to see it under the project's settings, making backups, and e-mailing you backups you asked for. The licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies in short-lived backups and records we keep for moderation (see the Privacy Policy).

You promise that you have the right to post what you post, and that it does not break the law or anyone else's rights, such as copyright or privacy. Do not upload work by others unless you are allowed to.

When you add content to a project that belongs to someone else, that project's owner and the people they give permission to can view, edit, move and delete it according to the project's roles. You still own what you wrote, but you allow the project to keep and use it as part of the project, also after you leave it.

5. Projects, owners and roles

The person who creates a project is its owner. The owner, and members with the Admin role, control the project: its settings, who may join, which roles exist and what each role may do, and its forum, including who can read it and who can post. They can invite, approve, remove and ban members, hide threads and posts in the project's forum and delete whole threads, but not touch what the site moderators hid.

If you own or manage a project:

  • You are responsible for its settings. If you make a forum public, anyone on the internet can read it.
  • Moderate your project in good faith. Your own project rules may be stricter than the Community Guidelines, but they cannot allow anything the guidelines forbid.
  • Only give people roles and permissions you trust them with. Changes in a project are recorded automatically in its audit log, which shows who changed what.

Decisions made inside a project, such as removing a member or hiding a post, are the project's own. Site moderation (section 7) applies on top of that and can override them.

6. Acceptable use

Follow the Community Guidelines. In addition, do not:

  • try to get into projects, accounts or data you have not been given access to;
  • disrupt or overload the site, probe it for weaknesses in ways that could harm it or other users, or work around its limits;
  • use bots or scripts to create accounts, request login codes, send invites or post;
  • upload malware or files designed to harm other people's devices;
  • use the site to send unsolicited advertising.

If you find a security problem, please e-mail us instead of testing it on other people's data.

7. Moderation and enforcement

Anyone with an account can report content or users that break these terms or the guidelines, using the Report links on the site. We do not check content before it is posted, and we have no obligation to monitor the site, but we review reports and may act on anything we become aware of.

Depending on how serious a problem is, and whether it has happened before, we may:

  • hide or remove content;
  • give a warning;
  • suspend an account for a period (a suspended account can still log in and read, but cannot post or change anything);
  • ban an account;
  • hide a whole project;
  • report illegal content to the authorities where the law requires it or where someone is at risk.

You can see every action taken against your account or content, with the reason, on your account standing page. Every moderation action is recorded in a moderation log. Nothing is deleted from that log; an action that is reversed stays in it, marked as reversed.

8. Appeals

If you think a moderation decision was wrong, you can appeal it once from your account standing page; this works even while you are suspended or banned. A moderator reviews the appeal and either reverses the action or explains why it stands. If you cannot use the site at all, e-mail us at info@llmpeeters.com. Decisions made inside a project should first be taken up with that project's owner or admins.

9. Ending your use of buncol

You can stop using buncol at any time, and delete your account yourself under Your account. That also deletes the projects you own, with what other members added to them; see the Privacy Policy for what is deleted and what is kept. While your account is suspended or banned, e-mail us from the address you log in with and we delete it for you.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, as described in section 7. We may also change or stop the service as a whole. If we shut buncol down, we will announce it on the site at least 30 days in advance where we can, so you have time to save your work.

10. The service is provided "as is"

buncol is a hobby project run in spare time. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Features can change, break or be removed, the site can be unavailable, and although we take care, data can be lost.

Keep your own copies of work that matters to you. You can turn on the weekly e-mail backup in your account settings, which mails you the writing of the projects you own, and you can export objects and locations from the world builder. See Help.

11. Liability

buncol is free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, lost data, lost profits or lost work arising from your use of the site or from it being unavailable, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us, which is nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country where you live.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. For important changes we will put a notice on the site before they take effect. If you keep using buncol after a change takes effect, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, stop using the site and delete your account.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the operator is established, and disputes go to the courts competent there. This does not take away the protection given to you by the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or your right to go to the courts there.

14. Contact
